I BELIEVE (Mercedes Echevarri)
I believe you're gonna save me from the dark,
from the lions, from the tigers, and the sharks
I believe you're gonna save me from the wolves,
from the nightmares, from the shadows in the woods
Lord, tell me why, lord tell me why, lord tell me why,
Why I got these feelings deep inside
'Cause I believe you're the one for me,
You keep running, running free
'Cause I believe you're the one for me,
You keep running, running free
You keep running, running free
I believe you're gonna take me to the moon
Show me stars and constellations in an air balloon
I believe you're gonna show me your world
All the joy and all the laughter we could share
'Cause I believe you're the one for me,
You keep running, running free
'Cause I believe you're the one for me,
You keep running, running free
You keep running, running free
I believe that you're gonna take me,
I believe that you're gonna save me Ooohh
I believe that you're gonna take me,
I believe that you're gonna save me Ooohh
'Cause I believe you're the one for me,
You keep running, running free
'Cause I believe you're the one for me,
You keep running, running free
You keep running, running free

YOU WILL MISS ME WHEN I'M GONE (Alfonso Arana)
When the water's running slow and the wind is blowing cold
and you've got nowhere to go
When you hear a lullaby and reminds you of the child
you still keep inside
You will miss me when I'm gone, when you're thirsty and alone
I will miss your golden voice, and you will miss me when I'm gone
Now you know what jail is like, and you feel so sad,
don't forget to shine a light
And because my love is true, and you feel it too,
please don't change the way you look
You will miss me when I'm gone, when you're thirsty and alone
I will miss your golden voice, and you will miss me when I'm gone
When you see me in your dreams, like a memory,
would you like to make it real?
And when you hear a swinging chain, right behind,
would you keep me in mind?
You will miss me when I'm gone, when you're thirsty and alone
I will miss your golden voice, and you will miss me when I'm gone

ACROSS THE SAND (Alfonso Arana)
If you wanna walk with me, if you wanna dance
only the slow ones
If you wanna feed the birds when the sun goes down
don't forget, take my hand, we're ready for a ride
close to the breakers, across the sand
If you want a miner of gold, if you wanna find
only the good ones
If you wanna sleep on the floor when you're tired and cold
don't forget, take my hand, we're ready for a ride
close to the breakers, across the sand
But a man never had a chance, like a wounded beast left for dead,
like a gull with a broken wing gone with the wind,
across the sand
If you want a man by your side, if you want a partner
keeping the distance
If you wanna feel your desire when the story's for real
don't forget, take my hand, we're ready for a ride
close to the breakers, across the sand
If you wanna walk with me

BLUEBERRY NIGHTS (Alfonso Arana)
Cold in the sunshine, warm in the evening rain
I'm gonna walk 'til the day is done, excited just to see your face
And maybe you're alone, doing fine, keeping things together
I'm gonna walk a thousand miles, look for mine, 'til the day is done
And the sun comes to me, rolling,
Burning up my eyes in my blueberry nights
Shifting like the wind that was never meant to be
Now I'm looking for her, standing in the rain, waiting on a dream
I thought I saw you smile on a corner behind, fading slowly in the dark
And the sun comes to me, rolling,
Burning up my eyes in my blueberry nights
Shifting like the wind that was never meant to be

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME (Alfonso Arana)
I've been around driving when I saw you turn around and scream
I've been around weeping all the tears down your cheeks
I've been around looking for a word I couldn't swear to give
I've been around laughing at the jokes about me
You say you want it, keep it in,
I need someone to watch over me
You say you want it, keep it in,
I need someone to watch over me
I've been around walking down the road I wish I hadn't seen
I've been around dreaming about you down your knees
I've been around waiting for a call that never came to me
I've been around thinking about the days we missed
You say you want it, keep it in,
I need someone to watch over me
You say you want it, keep it in,
I need someone to watch over me

HOLES (Alfonso Arana)
So you, you gave me strength
So you, made me forget
Let 'em say what they will
'cause they won't pray for my sins
So you, reach out for me
So you, made me believe
How deep, how long it could be
How fast I fell on my knees
I got time to fix my holes
made of fears, just like embers, grey as coal
So you, you gave me strength
So you, made me forget
How deep, how long it could be
How fast I fell on my knees
I got time to fix my holes
made of fears, just like embers, grey as coal

THE DARK SIDE OF YOU (Alfonso Arana)
Black is the night when you grow tired and lonely
The spirit is back, just like a moonbeam
Turn out the lights, you know the party's over
And kiss me goodnight, I'll wait for the sun
Somebody said I'm only a fool
waiting to see the dark side of you
Kick off your shoes, give me your holy silence
now your mind is next to mine
Tell me the truth, tell me about your nightmares
draw me a smile, you're the apple of my eye
Somebody said I'm only a fool
waiting to see the dark side of you
Black is the night when you grow tired and lonely
The spirit is back, just like a moonbeam
Turn out the lights, you know the party's over
And kiss me goodnight, I'll wait for the sun
Somebody said I'm only a fool
waiting to see the dark side of you
the dark side of you
the dark side of you

THE FIRE WILL ALWAYS BURN (Alfonso Arana)
Come and hold my hand,
I'll take you where the fire
will always burn
When I saw you, you hide your yearning,
gave me a smile and winked at me
Your face was pale and soft like velvet
You made me kiss the floor and bite my tongue
Come and hold my hand,
I'll take you where the fire
will always burn
The morning after, I had a fever
Felt as cold as a razorblade
Your silent stare, and haunting manners
lightened the room after you walked away
Come and hold my hand,
I'll take you where the fire
will always burn
At last we met again, down by the river,
We watched the sundown and drank some wine
You laid your head down and closed your eyes
I heard you whisper and then we kissed goodnight
Come and hold my hand,
I'll take you where the fire
will always burn

BY MY SIDE (Alfonso Arana/Mercedes Echevarri)
Where have you been? Where's my love?
Wandering around the world, like a broken soul
I wake up at night all alone,
Thinking the deal we had now is gone
And I see rivers running so wild
Far in the distance I try
To get you safe by my side
When you have no one to miss
No one will notice you're blessed with this gift
If I could see you right now
Behind you, I warn you, the longing has come
And I see rivers running so wild
Far in the distance I try
To get you safe by my side
Where have you been? Where's my love?
Wandering around the world, like a broken soul

MY DEAR (Alfonso Arana)
Nothing's on my mind when you're gone and disappear
No one's close to you when it hurts you my dear
And believe me when I try to give you my advice
I've got nothing but your love when I'm breathless, when I'm low
Nothing's on my mind when you're gone and disappear
No one's close to you when it hurts you my dear
And believe me when I say we have time for us to share
In the evenings, in the rain, when my hair is turning grey
And believe me when I try to give you my advice
I've got nothing but your love when I'm breathless, when I'm low
And believe me when I say we have time for us to share
In the evenings, in the rain, when my hair is turning grey

HEY YOU (Alfonso Arana/Mercedes Echevarri)
Hey you, I can't hear you and I don't know why
Hey you, if you only knew how to say hi
Can't you see the tears in my eyes?
Can't you see how I burn inside?
Look at me, take a chance on me
Hey you, how come I've forgotten your smile
Hey you, there's a feeling we both left behind
Can't you see the tears in my eyes?
Can't you see how I burn inside?
Look at me, take a chance on me
Can't you see the tears in my eyes?
Can't you see how I burn inside?
Can't you see the clouds in the sky?
Can't you see the lovers around?
Just like them, we were then, hey you

YOUR SMILE WILL LIGHTEN THE WAY (Mercedes Echevarri)
I can see you're scared and lonely
You don't need to explain
Your eyes are red and shinny
Don't be afraid
I know it ain't easy
you're struggling to find your way
when you're low, when you're cold, when you feel alone
please don't forget
your smile will lighten the way
your smile will lighten the way
Today is the day of the sunrise
dark memories seem far away
You're gonna get out of the bed where you hide
Come take my hand
I know it ain't easy
You're struggling to find your way
I will lead you again, you won't feel out of place
and never forget
your smile will lighten the way
your smile will lighten the way
your smile will lighten the way
your smile will lighten the way
your smile will lighten the way
your smile will lighten the way

Combining male and female voices has always had infallible results. There are June Carter and Johnny Cash, Nico and Reed, Sharon Robinson and Leonard Cohen ... Sweet Oblivion know it and play well this trick, among many others. So their third album, "The Natural", is indeed a true starting point in the path of the band from Getxo (Vizcaya). Led by Alfonso Arana (formerly of the legendary indie band Cancer Moon and front man of Cujo) and Ce (vocals and keyboards), both are also responsible for the song writing. The band takes its name from the sixth album by Screaming Trees, but goes beyond the country-rock label, from which they obviously also feed. Their new album contains perfect singles to welcome the spring, as the catchy 'You will miss me when I’m gone', combined with cutting and more fragile classicist arrangements, as the dialogue between piano and guitar on 'Holes'.
There are new elements in their sound than those on their previous two albums, "Wasted Lovesongs" (2007) and "Black Sheep Serenade" (2009). More noticeable, a brief departure from the melancholy shown before to focus on a more diverse pop-meets-rock that, while not completely avoiding the folk and American roots, feeds primarily on bright and pure melodies that underpin each tune. The band has already confessed on interviews his affection for timeless songs, those which really can be heard in ten years time without losing steam. And theirs are as such for sure. Classic, timeless structures and varied arrangements that still provide great results in music: guitar, vocals and keyboards backbone the songs that have an excellent magic wand: the production of JM Rosillo. "The Natural" is the perfect card for those who have not yet noticed the virtues of Sweet Oblivion. And this album confirms that, if their previous releases were good insights, with this one they have already attained certainty.
